2010-06-29
SSC is involved in the TanDEM-X missions in more than one way. During the launch on June 21, two SSC polar ground stations were used: the Esrange Station in Sweden at 67º 53" North, 21º 04" East and the Inuvik Station in

Both these stations are members of the SSC’s global ground station network called PrioraNet. The Inuvik Station will be used through out the whole mission for TT&C and acquisition of data for TanDEM-X and its twin satellite TerraSAR-X, both owned and run by DLR.

Staff at LSE, SSC’s German subsidiary, plays an important role in both missions. LSE's Multi mission Flight Support Team has been responsible for operating the Monitoring and Control System of TanDEM-X during the LEOP and commissioning phase and will be responsible for monitoring and control of the satellites during routine operations.

LSE's Mission Planning Team is responsible for operating the TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X Mission Planning System, supporting internal and external users of the system and supervising the Timeline Generation System.

And finally the LSE's Ground Data System Team has been responsible for testing, configuring and operating the communication links with the involved ground stations.
